Diego “The Nightmare” Sanchez announced yesterday that he will be returning back to the welterweight division. Sanchez suffered a tough one sided loss to lightweight champ BJ Penn, his last outing in the cage. Sanchez (21-3 MMA, 10-3 UFC) went (7-2) in the welterweight division, and (2-1) during his short time in the lightweight division.
During his announcement, Diego claimed that he loves his new diet for his welterweight training, which he states as a reason for the move back up. Sanchez also put out some potential ideas for his next opponents in the welterweight division such as Carlos Condit,Martin Kampmann, and Mike Swick.
It’s great to hear that crushing loss to Penn hasn’t dampened his fighter spirit, and he already wants to get back in the cage against some of the top athletes in that division, “Any top guy will do” is what Sanchez says.
