Dana White: Shields next in line for title shot with win

Former Elite XC, and Strikeforce champ, Jake Shields will have a tough opponent welcoming him into the UFC this month at UFC 121. Shields will be fighting the very tough Hitman, Martin Kampmann. Should Shields get past Kampmann, UFC President, Dana White told today’s press audience that Shields may be next in line for a shot at the welterweight title, with an upcoming win.

“Jake Shields is obviously at the top of the list. If Jake Shields should win against Martin Kampmann, he probably would be next (for the winner of Georges St. Pierre vs. Josh Koscheck),” said White.

It seems the accolades this champ has achieved in other organizations is respected by his new boss, and will be enough to bump him right to the top of the UFC welterweight division. Sorry Fitch, you wanted to move up in weight anyways right?
