Alan Belcher undergoes second surgery for detached retina

Nothing is certain yet for UFC middleweight fighter Alan Belcher, as he continues his struggles with a potential career-ending and blindness-causing, detached retina in his right eye. Most recently Belcher had to pull out of his bout with Demian Maia, due to his first surgery for the injury. Belcher stated that the injury most likely occurred in training and was perhaps made worse when he flew to and from Brazil because of the pressure change in the plane. ¬†Unfortunately, things don’t seem to be looking better for the fighter. Belcher’s wife recently updated fans via his Twitter account and revealed that Alan will have to go in for a second surgery.

“This is alans wife @Ashleebelcher Yesterday his vision was blurry again today heading into another surgery on same eye please keep praying.”

After the surgery, Ashlee explained that how successful the surgery was will be shown within the next couple of months, but unfortunately for Belcher, he will remain in serious pain for now.

“We are home He is in a lot of pain though Next few weeks are really important He has to lay face down :( thanks for prayers, @Ashleebelcher.”

If fans wish to send Alan get well cards, Ashlee also posted the address to his Mississippi gym;

“Several people have sent me @’s asking where they can send Alan a get well soon card to.gym address is 10322 gorenflo rd diberville ms 39340.”
