Urijah Faber submits Ivan Menjivar at UFC 157 [Recap]
ANAHEIM – “The California Kid” Urijah Faber is back with a win in front of his home state. Once again defeating MMA pioneer Ivan Menjivar, but this time with a completion at UFC 157.
It only took one round for Faber to torque down a rear-naked choke from the backpack position (taking back on opponent standing). After a few scrambles on the ground, Faber proved to pull dominant position repeatedly. It wasn’t long before Faber landed on the back of Menjivar.
Official: Urijah Faber defeats Ivan Menjivar via submission (rear-naked choke) – Round 1, 4:34.
Faber was recently mentioned by UFC president Dana White as being on the chopping block with a loss tonight. He proved to rise to the challenge after suffering a loss to current interim-champ Renan Barao at UFC 149. Urijah had been on a recent up-and-down skid, falling short in championship fights. With tonight’s performance, we may just see the resurgence of the dominating WEC champ.

A sensational win
Whooooo hooooo he is comming back fans.yeeees
wow whoever wrote this article is a complete moron. Faber isn’t back to his dominant ways from when he was in the WEC he fought a guy who’s basically a nobody someone who he’s beaten before and that he was expected to defeat. Put Urijah in against a kick boxer and the idiot will lose again. I’m a fan of Faber but I think he’s taken to many hits to the head considering he goes against guys like Aldo and Barao who use heavy leg kicks and he just stands there and lets them kick him in the leg till he can no longer walk he trys to prove how tough he is by getting in a striking match with these guys while not checking their kicks or being smart and using his wrestling to take them to the mat and try to wear them down like that. Until Faber learns to use his wrestling again when fighting superior strikers he’ll never be a champion again in fact if I were Dana I wouldn’t let him get within a mile of a title fight until he proves he remembers how to fight against a superior striker
