Regardless of whether or not you thought Eddie Alvarez deserved the split decision victory over Gilbert Melendez at UFC 188 on Saturday night, you can’t deny that Alvarez is tough as nails. He absorbed hellacious damage in the first round – the kind of damage that would’ve snuffed out the competitive fires of other men – and went on to battle the former Strikeforce champ with unbridled fury throughout the second and third rounds.
How injured was the former Bellator champ? Pretty-freaking-injured.
Broken nose and orbital fr an elbow in rnd 1 forced me to make adjustments, gauging distance was a bitch, found a way regardless ,TU guys,

Maybe he’ll fight for the UFC belt one day, maybe he won’t. But either way, Alvarez has proved his mettle.
