Dunham out, Varner returns vs. Barboza at UFC 146

The curse of injuries returns for UFC 146, as yet another card shuffle has taken place. The young talent, Evan Dunham has been forced from his bout due to injury. Stepping in his place will be the former WEC champion, Jamie Varner (19-6-1 MMA, 1-1 UFC) to challenge the undefeated Edson Barboza (10-0 MMA, 4-0 UFC). The two opponents will now have until May 26 to prepare for the last minute change.

From being on top of the world to dropping four-straight and being cut by the WEC. Jamie Varner has had a roller-coaster of a career. Now on his upward climb, Varner will look to make a successful return in the worlds largest MMA promotion. After back-to-back victories in XFC at 160 lb. catch-weight bouts, the UFC has granted Varner his opportunity, but at the challenge of taking on one of the best in the division.

Barboza doesn’t seem to know how to lose. Being the first ever UFC fighter to land a KO spinning heel kick finish. The young 26-year-old prospect is knocking on title contention’s door with his four consecutive UFC wins. Of those wins he has garnered himself already four Fight bonuses. More than the average UFC fighter will see in their career.
