Along with the many other questions Dana White answered during today’s UFC 114 conference call, he also confirmed that the winner of Jackson vs. Evans fight will get a shot at Shogun Rua.
“I did commit to the winner getting a title shot,” White stated.
But White refused to confirm that UFC 114 would serve as light-heavyweight contender bout. Rampage on the other hand stated that he is prepared for the title-shot either way though.
“I’ve been training for this fight like it was a title shot,” Jackson said. “I’ve been training five-rounds because I still feel like I’m a champion in my mind. So for it to be a title shot next makes it sweet. So I can just go right into it and keep training those five-round and get my belt back and get back on the right track of being one of the best fighters in the world.”
Shogun recently took the belt from Lyoto Machida in a first round KO at UFC 113. Shogun and Machida had fought once before in 2009 where Machida won via unanimous decision.
