MMA H.E.A.T. was on hand as UFC President Dana White addressed the media to promote the upcoming UFC on FOX 7, which takes place in San Jose, CA at the HP Pavilion on Saturday, April 20. He covered a wide variety of topics including both the UFC this coming Saturday and future events that have yet to take place. Most notably, he made an interesting statement that seemed to express doubt that the possibility of a welterweight title fight between champion Georges St. Pierre and challenger Johny Hendricks is likely to happen. He also touched on the recent German treatment he received in his battle with Meniere’s disease and even managed to comment about transgender female fighter Fallon Fox.
UFC on FOX 7 is headlined by a lightweight title bout featuring champion Benson “Smooth” Henderson and former Strikeforce champion Gilbert “El Nino” Melendez. Also on the card are the debut of Strikeforce import Daniel Cormier, who will be welcomed to the UFC by former champion Frank Mir and an exciting lightweight tilt between Nate Diaz and Josh Thomson. The event starts with preliminary fights on the Facebook UFC stream at 1pm/4pm PTET. A second series of prelim fights will then air on FX at 2pm/5pm PTET with the main event occurring on FOX at 5pm/8pm PTET.
