It’s not the news that fans of Mark Hunt wanted to hear. With Alistair Overeem (36-12 MMA, 1-1 UFC) pulling out of his UFC 160 bout against Junior dos Santos (15-2 MMA, 9-1 UFC) due to a quad injury, the ‘#RallyForMarkHunt’ started in earnest on Twitter, with fans of the New Zealander begging the UFC president to replace Dos Santos with their man. Hunt (9-7 MMA, 4-1 UFC), who was coming off of an impressive knockout victory over Stefan Struve last weekend and currently on a four-fight win streak, he seemed the most logical replacement.
Unfortunately for Hunt and his legion of fans, White wasn’t interested in replacing Overeem, but instead postponed the fight until the Summer.

While this news put the brakes on many a fan’s hope to see Hunt in a stand-up brawl with “Cigano”, the man himself was not to be deterred, taking to Twitter himself and urging his fans to push for the fight.
I want in troops and only the boss @danawhite can make it happen lets go army ATTACK the general wants in on this fight

We may have to wait for a top five opponent for Hunt for while, but don’t be surprised if White gives the fans what they want if they’re persistent enough, it has happened before.
