First came Michael Bisping’s thoughts on TRT, and now UFC president Dana White has released his own thoughts on the subject. White believes that many people are using it as a way to cheat, and that the UFC may need to change its testing policy on how often they test fighters.
“TRT has become a way for people to cheat. If this is what your normal level should be and then you have guys training at huge levels (of testosterone) for their whole camp then tapering down to get to normal levels before the f–king fight, that’s cheating, and I don’t like it anymore.”
Obviously, some fighters actually need TRT to raise their levels and do test throughout training to make sure they are not going too high, such as Dan Henderson. What does Dana believe those fighters that levels are too low to compete should do?
“There are plenty of guys in the UFC that are naturally gifted and talented fighters. If you’re testosterone levels are too low then you’re probably too old to be fighting, stop fighting!”
This is a far cry from what Dana thought just a few months ago. He was behind TRT use 100%.
Here’s the thing about TRT. It’s absolutely 100% legal. As sports medicine continues to advance, this is one of those things where every guy’s testosterone level starts to drop as they get older and this is basically sports science now where they can bring it back up to a normal level. And I think it’s great, it’s absolutely fair, it’s legal.”
Now, what does White and the UFC plan to do to change this cheating. Well, he has a plan for those fighters.
“We can test everybody. I’m telling you right now, if you are using testosterone replacement therapy, get ready motherf–kers because we’re going to test the shit out of you. Some things recently have led me to believe that people are f–king cheaters, people are taking good things and turning it into a bad thing and if you want to play those games then guess what, we’ll play! “
So, if you are using TRT you better watch out, because it looks like White and the UFC are coming after those fighters.
“If you’re on TRT now, you’re going to wish you weren’t. We’re going to test the living shit out of you. You have guys that go in there 100% natural with his talent and natural ability, against someone on TRT, basically someone that’s on steroids. I’m absolutely 100 percent against TRT and now I’m going to start fighting it 100 percent with the athletic commissions and I want nothing to do with it.”
