Dana White now “committed” to adding women to UFC

After years of denying women in the octagon, UFC president Dana White has went from warming up to the idea to now full-out “it’s happening.” Likely due to his new found friendship with Rousey and Tate and impressive Strikeforce numbers, White is all in.

“It’s absolutely going to happen,” said White. “[It] could happen tomorrow, it could happen a year from now…. The point is I’m committed to this.”

As Strikeforce looks to be meeting its impending demise after back-to-back cancellations, its female stars will  need a new home. This may prove to be a challenge for White as female MMA is no doubt still developing. With the emergence of White’s friend Shannon Knapp developing talent in the Invicta FC promotions, there may be yet another buy-out on the horizon.

White was also recently heard talking on his current task of putting together the Rousey vs. Cyborg match-up, surprisingly in the octagon. As his talks of females in the UFC continue, it looks like the UFC will be welcoming a new division shortly.
