Hopefully you have not forgotten about the 40-year-young Strikeforce light heavyweight champ Dan Henderson (27-8). If so let me remind you of the Olympic Greco-Roman wrestler to simultaneously hold two belts in Pride, and to walk away with both UFC and Pride tournament wins. The reason I bring this up is that in a recent Junkie poll of which champions between Strikeforce and UFC would fans like to see, Henderson vs Jones was a less popular desired fight.
When Henderson was asked recently by Tatame on a possible match-up in the future with Jones he had this to say:
“I’d rather fight him now than in two years… He’s just been improving so much, and he’ll be a lot tougher to beat in two years and I’m getting older, so… (laughs)” , said Henderson, analyzing Jones’ win over Mauricio Shogun, at UFC 128.”
“I was surprised by the way Shogun came to the fight. It seemed like he was very unsure, not prepared, and that’s not Shogun anybody wants to see. It’s unfortunate, but it happens when you’re not in shape. When you’re not in shape, it doesn’t matter what your skills are”, said the fighter.
