The UFC is now set to make another appearance in Canada as they target June 15th for UFC 161 in the province of Manitoba for the first time. Already added to the main card is Mauricio “Shogun” Rua vs. Antonio Rogerio Nogueira. Now the organization has verified with John Morgan that they plan to also add Dan Henderson vs. Rashad Evans to the event as well.
As touched on prior, Evans and Henderson will be looking to rebound off lackluster performances. Rashad Evans lost a unanimous decision to Rogerio at UFC 156 in Feb. Henderson was unable to land on the elusive Lyoto Machida, also losing by decision (split). Despite both men coming off a loss, the two should bring much interest to the card as both stand as former champs and one being called a future hall-of-famer.
Verbal agreements are said to be in place, now only awaiting contract signatures. Expect an official announcement in the coming days.
