Dan Henderson has been around the sport so long, he’s considered ancient. But he’s still chugging along, as evidenced by his quick destruction of Tim Beotsch at UFC Fight Night 68 a few weeks ago. However, that win doesn’t change the fact that old “Hendo” has been losing to the best in the division for the last two years, so it is with some trepidation that we speak of who he should fight next.
Obviously, he shouldn’t go anywhere near Lyoto Machida. Or Rashad Evans. Or Daniel Cormier. Or Gegard Mousasi. Which leaves us with what? Of course there could be another dance with Vitor Belfort now that the Brazilian is off the sauce. And who wouldn’t like to see Henderson take out Michael Bisping again?
Well, Hendo. That’s who.
As per MMAFighting:
“I don’t even think it’s worth doing, to have a rematch with him,” Henderson said Monday on The MMA Hour. “I could never top what I did the last time. So why diminish that?
“Even if I knocked him out again, it wouldn’t be nearly as gratifying for the fans as the first time.”
“It’s fun for me to have him kind of know that he’ll never be able to make up for that, or change that,” Henderson said.
Oh well. If Henderson doesn’t want to take on Bisping again, I think he’s earned the right to pick and choose.
