Last weekend, Dan “The Outlaw” Hardy, lost his third fight in a row to Anthony “Rumble” Johnson at UFC Fight Night 24. In nearly every case, three losses in a row mean the axe from Dana White, but this time it may not be the same.
Fighter’s Only reported that top UFC officials have not decided to cut Hardy just yet and he will be given another chance to prove himself in the Octagon.
At the post-fight press conference, media asked White what was next for the British bad-boy, and most were expecting that he would be cut. But shockingly Dana stated that there’s still a place for Hardy in the organization. White went on to say affectionately, “We’ll have to wait and see. I f***ing love that kid.”
The UFC has not yet released info on who Hardy’s next opponent will be, but “The Outlaw” already has an idea on who wants to fight. Hardy recently said on his Twitter page, “Win in a blaze of glory or go out on my shield. Someone like Mr [Chris] Lytle…,”
In a recent interview with Bloody Elbow, Lytle said he would be down for the match. “I think it would be awesome, I know exactly how he feels. He wants to go out there and fight. Just get out there and bang. He didn’t get to do that in his last fight and I’m all about it. Let’s do it!”
Hardy who also spoke with Bloody Elbow gave his response on Lytle’s acceptance to a bout, “That’s exactly why I’m a fan of Mr. Lytle, and that’s exactly why the fans love him, he has the attitude all fighters should have, come to fight or don’t come at all. I’m sick of worrying about records and rankings, it takes the fun out of it for me. I just want fights that the fans will talk about in years to come. Old school shootouts, blood, sweat and tears, death or glory.”
