Well it looks like helping out the UFC does not always work out for the best, because after being a late replacement to face Gunnar Nelson at UFC on FUEL TV 5 DaMarques Johnson has been released. This likely stems from the fact that Johnson missing weight by a large amount and the he was finished in the first round by submission. The Ultimate Fighter runner up has always had his ups and downs in the UFC, but he seemed to always rebound. If he looks to rebound now it will have to be done outside of the UFC. The tag of UFC and Ultimate Fighter veteran should hold him some clout when he is searching for fights on the regional circuit.
DaMarques lost the Ultimate Fighter due to a submission loss which has always been his weakness. After that loss, he went 4-2 only losing to other Ultimate fighter alums Amir Sandollah and Matthew Riddle. After that, his UFC career ended on three straight losses by John Maguire via submission, a knockout loss to Mike Swick, and the aforementioned loss to Gunner Nelson. As of now his whole career stand at 16-12, and he will need to up that to ever get a chance at the big time again.
