This past Saturday, two big matches took place in the featherweight division – one between Ricardo Lamas and Erik Koch and one between Clay Guida and Hatsu Hioki. Lamas may have earned the next shot at the 145-pound title, but there are many other contenders in the division eager to fight for the belt. Frankie Edgar is not currently ranked at featherweight, but with a win, or even a compelling performance over Jose Aldo, he will surely enter the top ten. Other big matches lined up at 145 are Cub Swanson vs. Dustin Poirier, Chad Mendes vs. Manny Gamburyan, and Antonio Carvalho vs. Darren Elkins.
#10 Hacran Dias
Dias could be a real contender at 145, and he had a chance to prove it when he was scheduled to face former number-one contender Mendes. A shoulder injury put a stop to that just ten days before they were set to fight, and Dias has not been lined up for another fight yet. At 21-1-1, he was signed to the UFC during auditions for the first season of the Ultimate Fighter Brazil. Hopefully, he heals up and gets another bout shortly.
