Current Top Ten Bantamweights
Dominick Cruz’s second ACL injury has taken the bantamweight division off hold, because now Renan Barao is set to defend his interim title against Michael McDonald later this month. There will not be a clear-cut number one bantamweight until Cruz is able to come back, but the rest of the fighters are set to duke it out for number two while they wait. Big match-ups currently scheduled for the bantamweight division are the aforementioned Barao vs. McDonald, Urijah Faber vs. Ivan Menjivar, and Marcos Galvao vs. Eduardo Dantas.
#10 Erik Perez
While Perez has not been tested by a high-level bantamweight yet, that will most likely come in his next bout. He entered the UFC on the strength of a six-fight win streak, and no one has stood a chance in the Octagon. Through two fights Perez has fought for less than five minutes. At only 23 years of age, Perez has many years of fighting ahead of him, but if he continues to finish people fast he will find himself in a title shot sooner rather than later.
