If it wasn’t for a back and forth, split-decision loss to Martin Kampmann in his UFC debut, Carlos Condit would be riding a 14 fight win streak as he enters into his next title fight. The current interim champ ideally would like to unify the belts in a fight with current champ, Georges St-Pierre, but if St-Pierre is not ready for their Nov. showdown in Canada, ‘The Natural Born Killer’ will be looking for vengeance elsewhere.
“If it turns out Georges can’t fight in November, most likely, I will fight somebody else. I really wanna fight Georges. I really wanna unify the belts, but there’s also some other guys that I would like to fight as well. You know, Martin Kampmann’s the only guy that I’ve lost to in the UFC, the only guy I’ve lost to in about the last six years, so I would definitely like to avenge that loss.”
Kampmann has solidified himself as a top five 170 pound fighter, after his recent comeback victory over Jake Ellenberger at the TUF Live Finales. Expected next for Kampmann is quick up and comer, Johny Hendricks to decide the number three spot. Nothing is ever certain however, until bout agreements are signed, and with St-Pierre’s recovery in question, should he not be ready, it will likely be Condit vs. Kampmann II for the interim title in the coming months.
