Cesar Gracie and Dana White haven’t seen eye to eye on a number of subjects over the years.
First it was Nick Diaz, followed up by issues with his brother, Nate.
Now, with Gilbert Melendez nearing a possible move to Bellator MMA after they offered the former Strikeforce champion a contract, Gracie is letting the bullets fly.
“Gilbert Melendez won’t be punked by Dana White,” Gracie posted on Twitter. “If not careful our other guys will be leaving UFC for Bellator.”
Those “other” guys could possibly include both Diaz brothers. Jake Shields is also aligned with the Gracie camp and currently in the UFC.
The UFC still holds matching rights to any contract presented to Melendez, but White stated earlier this week that he personally was finished dealing with his management team.
Melendez appears hopeful that the UFC will not match the deal, as he wrote on Twitter “Jazzed and excited – imagine the fireworks if I shared the cage with (Bellator champion) Eddie Alvarez and (former champion) Michael Chandler at Bellator.”
