Denver, Colorado – Donald Cerrone has proven once again that he is a top five fighter, deserving of a contender fight in the lightweight division as he knocks out friend and former training partner Melvin Guillard in the first 77 seconds of the fight at UFC 150.
The KO came shortly after being rocked by a hook from Guillard that had Cowboy pedaling back. As soon as the cobwebs were shaken though, Cerrone went on the the offense with a high kick that grazed his opponent, followed by a right that left Guillard head down, knocked out on the canvas.
Prior to the bout, Donald was calling for former top contender and former WEC champ Anthony Pettis. With the win Cerrone will now likely have his wishes granted as UFC president Dana White had shared interest in the bout, should Cerrone win. Pettis has also came out and expressed an interest in the bout on the condition that he would earn a title shot with a win. That shouldn’t be a problem in this case as both men come off impressive first round victories in the octagon against top tier opponent.
