Who ever said that mixed martial artist were only good for punching each other in the face were wrong when it comes to Brian Stann. In 2007 the former U.S. Marine created a non profit organization called Hire Heroes USA to help get former members of military service a job when they entered back into regular society. Well, it looks like five years of hard work has paid off for Stann, the president of the organization, because Google is taking on the cause. They will also be partnering with similar organizations the Institute for Veterans and Military Families at Syracuse University and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
With all three of these organizations under the same banner, Google has created VetNetHQ.com. Google Network’s Carrie Laureno has said, “Our goal is to help our partners do the things they do so incredibly well already but to have them leverage our technology so that they can scale their services to even greater numbers of people.” While this new program is a collaboration between four organizations, this is a big win for Brian Stann’s group, which has already had great results.
The Heroes for Hire program has already helped place 14,000 veterans in jobs by helping coordinate over 370 job fairs for veterans. Now, with the help of one of the largest websites in the world they have the potential to reach millions of veterans and to help place them in many more jobs. This is a big win for Stann and will only give him that much more confidence and ease knowing he is helping his fellow veterans the next time he enters the octagon.
