Some fighters want the belt and want to beat those standing between them and that coveted championship gold.
Ben Rothwell wants to beat everybody. That way, when he fights for the title, there will be no doubt he deserves to be there.
At yesterday’s open workouts for UFC on FOX 18, which took place at the UFC Gym in Hoboken, N.J., Rothwell threw some light punches, then danced a bit (seriously – I think it was some sort of a jig), and after showing off his silver-painted toes, he fielded questions from the press.
“It’s not about proving myself, I think the world knows I’m one of the top fighters. It’s just going out and putting these guys away and earning what’s mine. I’ve been paying my dues for 17 years, I’m not about to stop. I don’t want anything given to me… When I’m in a title fight, I don’t want any dispute. If I have to take out Barnett and Stipe and whoever else, fine. That’s what I’m here to do.”
Watch the rest of the scrum below. Rothwell sounds eager, and ready to do what needs to be done.
