“Big Nog” fans can exhale a sigh of relief, as the 37 year-old legend was reportedly not seriously hurt during his UFC on FUEL TV 10 bout with Fabricio Werdum, which ended with the latter tapping out Nogueira via armbar.
Due to the awkward position Nogueira was in during the fight ending submission, and particularly because he didn’t attend the card’s post fight press conference, there was concern as to whether the fighter was okay. One of the former PRIDE champ’s coaches, Luiz Dorea, has tweeted however:
Our champion @ Minotauromma already did xray and thank God, did not fracture and already out of the hospital! Thank God!
So, that’s obviously good news, but it will be interesting to see where Nogueira goes from here and what the UFC has planned for him. Going into Saturday’s bout the former PRIDE champ was talking about making another title run, but now that he’s lost two of his last three fights, it will take some time to back into the mix.
Nogueira has also battled injuries in recent years and missed much of 2012 after Frank Mir broke his arm at UFC 140.
