Well it looks like UFC featherweight champ Jose Aldo is back and ready for action. Officials announced earlier today that Aldo will be defending his belt against Erik Koch in the main event at UFC 153, on October 13th in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
The two fighters were originally supposed to meet up at this Saturday’s UFC 149 in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, but an injury to Aldo’s leg forced them to scrap the fight and reschedule.
Jose Aldo was last seen in the octagon taking on Chad Mendes at UFC 142, where he KO’d him with knees and punches. He was voted 2009 Sherdog Fighter of the Year and 2010 Charles “Mask” Lewis Fighter of the Year. He currently holds an astounding 21-1 record, with 14 wins coming via KO.
Erik Koch is coming off of a four fight win streak, with his last bout being against Jonathan Brookins at UFC Fight Night: Shields vs. Ellenberger, where he defeated him via unanimous decision. His current record is 13-1, with seven of his wins coming via submission.
