The second part of the Strikeforce Heavyweight tourney has been officially delayed till June 18 at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas says Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker recently to ESPN. When asked why, Coker responded, ” We ran out of time and couldn’t find a venue that would suit the needs of all involved.” Meaning the rumors of Josh Barnett’s inability to be licensed in California causing delay of the event were true.
With the originally planned April 9 venue slot still available, the organization still has plans to utilize the space with two title fights on the line and a possible return for female fighter, Gina Carano. The event will take place at the Valley View Casino Center in San Diego, CA and will headline welterweight champion Nick Diaz vs. the dangerous Paul Daley. Also featuring a lightweight title bout from Gilbert Melendez vs Japanese’s own Tatsuya Kawajiri.
