Dan Henderson TKO’s Feijao to become Strikeforce light heavyweight champion

40 year old Dan “Hendo” Henderson becomes a champion once again in yet another organization. Henderson defeats now former Strikeforce light heavyweight champion Rafael “Feijao” Cavalcante via TKO early in the third. Here is the matches play by play.

Round One:
The two come out touching gloves. The feeling out process begins as the crowd chants ‘Hendo.’ Feijao lands first with a low leg kick. Hendo steps forward and lands a big right and Feijao returns with a big right of his own and drops Henderson. Henderson quickly pops-up and gets the takedown. Henderson now in the guard shaking off his daze from the big shot. Henderson begins to throw some hammer fists in guard but ref. Mirgliata decides to stand the two up. Henderson again comes forward with a a heavy 1, 2 combo that does not land flush. Henderson follows with a clinch against the fence. Henderson tries to work the midsection and Feijao returns with a knee to the mid section. Again Mirgliata seperates the two for the last 10 seconds of the round and the two square up before the round ends.
We give it 10-9  to Rafael Cavalcante for the knockdown.

Round Two:
The two touch gloves again and square off. Henderson stalks the champ with some right lefts and gets the clinch in the fence again. Henderson goes for a single on the fence and Feijao stuffs. Feijao attempts a takedown from the underhooks and Dan reverses on the way down. Henderson from sidecontrol attempts to advance and Feijao scrambles to the top in Henderson’s guard.  The crowd boos as Feijao does not attempt to advance position and the Ref stands them again. Feijao comes close to landing some winded hooks. Henderson again gets the takedown with a double leg this time. Henderson now in half guard looks to drop his shoulder on the champ as the round ends.
CI gives the round to Henderson for top control.

Round Three:
Henderson again comes forward catching Feijao with a right as Feijao falls back into the cage but circles out. Again Henderson lands another right that drops the now former champ as Henderson jumps on the back and finishes with strikes that ends it!

Henderson a former Pride and UFC champion adds another belt to his long resume. The future legend now holds notable victories over  top challengers Rafael Cavalcante, Renato Sobral, Michael Bisping, Rich Franklin, Rousimar Palhares, Wanderlei Silva, Vitor Belfort, Renzo Gracie, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, and Carlos Newton. 52 seconds is the official time.
