During the EA MMA release party, former Strikeforce champ, Cung Le talked with CagedInsider.com about his struggles juggling his acting and MMA career simultaneously in the recent years. Le feels he would now like to return to his roots, and with proper training he believes he would be will be back at the top in the Strikeforce promotions.
“After i was in Germany for two and a half months [filming Pandorum] it was a little hard to train for a fight, but now I know where my roots are, explained Le. MMA has got me this far, and I came off such a great performance in my last fight. I feel if I train proper for any fight; I’m in the races. One day at a time right now.”
When asked about the Strikeforce heavyweight division, Le quickly referred to ‘the Last Emperor’, Fedor Emelianenko’s recent loss to Fabricio Werdum and the parallels between Emelianenko and himself.
“You know I think there heavyweight division is getting stacked, said Le. Obviously anything can happen at anytime. Fedor got caught in a triangle and things happen. I got clipped in a fight I was winning. In MMA anything happens and that’s the great thing about MMA “
On the topic of favorite fighters, Le seemed to favor Strikeforce fighters exclusively, or at least current and former Strikeforce employees.
I enjoy watching Fedor, Randy Couture, Josh Thomson, King Mo,any fighter that leaves it all in the cage I love to watch. Josh Thomson always brings exciting fights. He fought a great war against Gilbert Melendez. I rather be in the stands watching it, rather than being in the back warming up for my own fight. I’m a big fan myself.
When asked who is the current best pound for pound fighter in the world, Le eluded to saying who in his opinion is the best in the Strikeforce promotions.
“There is a lot of best pound for pound, but in Strikeforce its got to be Fedor.”
