Following the news of former Strikeforce champ Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos testing positive for a steroid, yet another Strikeforce member has failed. Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal a former Strikeforce light heavyweight champ has tested positive for the steroid Drostanalone according to the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC).
Drostanalone is usually used as medication to lower cholesterol and is even sometimes prescribed to cancer patients. The drug has also been abused though as a performance enhancing drug.
Coming off a first round TKO over up and coming Lorenz Larkin, the former champ was eying another title shot. This will not be the result however as the likely punishment for the failed test from the commission will likely be a year without a fight license. In certain special situations the suspension period has been moved down to a six-month length, usually after an appeal.
No word from Lawal or his camp at this time. We will update you as we hear more.
