New ‘World Series of Fighting’ debuting with possible NBC deal

Add another name to the list of MMA promotions competing with the UFC giants. “World Series of Fighting” has dropped on the scene with the announcement of a Nov. 3 event at Planet Hollywood in the UFC’s backyard of Las Vegas. The venue is expected to hold up to 6000 fans.

The card will feature 10+ bouts on their first showing, including names such as Roger Huerta (headliner), John Gunderson and Joey Villasenor. The new promotion looks to be following Bellator FC’s platform with a ‘tournament of champions’ spanning five weight classes from 155 to 265 pounds.

The biggest news of this all is that the promotion is already in talks with NBC sports (formerly versus) about a broadcasting partnership. The distribution would obviously be enormous for the company as we’ve seen the WEC promotions grow through the channel when it was in its infancy.
