It is now official, UFC 123: Rampage vs Machida will take place in Auburn Hills, Michigan, on November 20, as Dana White told press today.
The event will be the first time the UFC returns to Michigan since UFC 9, way back in May of 1996 where “worlds strongest man” Ken Shamrock fought Dan Severn in the Detroit, Cobo Arena.
Jackson (30-8) is coming off his UFC 114 decision loss to nemesis Rashad Evans, while Machida (16-1) hopes to bounce back from his first career loss, against Mauricio “Shogun” Rua. Rua knocked Machida out to become the newest light heavyweight, 205-pound UFC champion.
With both men former light heavyweight champions, and coming off losses, these two will be fighting to get back to title contention quickly with hopes to avenge losses.
