Gabe Ruediger fighting radio host Jason Ellis in a boxing match

On July 14, Jason Ellis will be hosting EllisMania 8, from The Joint in Las Vegas, NV. The event features a variety of novelty fights, and now it appears to pit the brash host against Gabe Ruediger. Gabe was last seen in the UFC in February of this year, where he took a KO loss via head kick and subsequent punches from Paul Taylor. As it was his second loss in a row in his second stint with the UFC, he was shortly after cut once again from the promotion. He fought again on March 16th for BAMMA, and was knocked out by Scott “KO” Caitlin. Following that loss, Gabe had decided to retire from mixed martial arts.

UPDATE: Jason Ellis defeats Gabe Ruediger via KO in Round 2

Ruediger, who is still best known by many fans for eating ice cream cake and missing weight on TUF season 5. Ellis has trained at Team Quest with Dan Henderson, Muhammad Lawal, and Jason “Mayhem” Miller, and is 1-0 in both pro MMA and pro boxing. He’s currently hovering around 200 pounds, and is training at the Fortune Boxing Gym in Hollywood. Gabe’s fights this year were at lightweight, 155lbs. While he’s a former WEC lightweight champion, Gabe’s skillset is Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. He’s been knocked out 5 times, once with a body blow. This should actually make for an entertaining fight!
Gabe has already started out with the trash talking. Here’s a tweet from today:
