In one of Boxing’s biggest events of all time, the undefeated Floyd Mayweather Jr. defended his welterweight title against Sugar Shane Mosley. The fight did lack any finish going the full 12 rounds with Mayweather advancing his perfect record to 41-0.
Mosley had dazed Mayweather as his knees buckled in the second and briefly in the third round, but Mayweather was able to survive in the clinch with an under-hook into the arm of Mosley. After round three the Floyd Mayweather show continued as every round showcased the champions pin-point accuracy taking advantage of any small opening.
Mayweather won by decision with the judges having it:
119-109, 119-109, 118-110
In the post-fight interview Mayweather was questioned about fighting Manny Pacquiao next. Mayweather circled the question saying that he wants the playing field to be even. When asked if he was insinuating that Pacquiao is on performance enhancing drugs (steroids) Mayweather said “I never said that, I just want a fair fight.” As of now it does not sound that Mayweather has any plans to fight Pacman unless he bends to his will and takes a blood test the day before the fight. Something Pacquiao’s camp agreed to do but not the day before the fight. With a 60 million dollar payday offered on the table for the super-fight, you have to think that the two would figure out a compromise.
