The roughest part about being a feeder league is that when you crown a champ, it’s only a matter of time before that champ disappears in a puff of smoke and reappears in the Octagon, never to return to the minor league show that spawned them. That’s Invicta FC’s plight, as evidenced by the entire divisions that were wiped clean of their competitors simply because the UFC wanted that division for their own shows.
And certainly that’s the case with former Invicta champ Tonya Evinger, who beat Russian Yana Kunitskaya for the belt, and then got called up to fight Cris Cyborg in the UFC.
But in the main event of last night’s Invicta FC 25, Kunitskaya beat the crap out of Raquel Pa’aluhi for five rounds and was crowned the new 135-pound queen, and now she wants that Evinger rematch…
…Which can’t happen unless Kunitskaya goes up to the UFC or Evinger comes back to Invicta.
