Invicta FC announced the lineup for their next event today, with another title fight for the all-female promotion’s biggest star serving as headliner.
Atomweight Champion Michelle Waterson, fresh off her first defense of the title back in September, will look to retain again against newcomer Herica Tiburico at Invicta 10, at the Arena Theater in Houston, Texas.
The 22 year old challenger Tiburico will enter the cage on a three fight winning streak, having amassed a total 8-2 MMA record in her native Brazil. She trains out of MMA pioneer Jorge “Macaco” Patino’s Macaco Gold Team in São Paulo.
Waterson elevated her MMA record to 11-3 with the victory over Yasuko Tamada in September. That night, the product of Jackson’s MMA in New Mexico outclassed her opponent from the opening bell, who was later revealed to be 47 years old to Waterson’s 28. The prospect Tiburico appears to offer a better match.
The undercard is also promising. American Tonya Evinger returns to the Invicta cage, now riding a five-fight winning streak including a quick armbar victory over Ediane “India” Gomes at Invicta 8. She faces Cindy “Battlecat” Dandois of Belguim, whose MMA career in Europe includes wins over Sheila Gaff and Marloes Coenan.
