Wow, it seems like only yesterday that the UFC wanted to start up a flyweight division, so they brought in Tachi Palace Fights champ Ian McCall to take on Demetrious Johnson, and the two fought to a draw.
Of course, Johnson went on to become the king, while McCall floundered in the Octagon and sat on the sidelines for extended periods of time due to injuries. Talk about two divergent paths!
Anyway, McCall asked for his release from the UFC after all these years, and they granted it, and now he’s going to Japan to take part in Rizin’s bantamweight tournament. If he’s injury-free, expect McCall to kick some butt.
Or not. Who knows.
