Kickboxing fans on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean received some good news yesterday, as GLORY World Series is renewing their key television deals in Europe, while expanding their television offerings in North America.
An announcement on the GLORY World Series official website described the European television deals as renewing, beginning with the next GLORY event, GLORY 19 February 6 in Virginia:
Kombat Sport, a French television channel dedicated to all fight sports, will broadcast the GLORY SuperFight Series events in 2015 to approximately seven million subscribers in France, Belgium, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Israel, Portugal and Sub-Saharan Africa.
Fight Channel, which specializes in broadcasting martial arts programming, will provide live GLORY kickboxing events, full GLORY SuperFight Series cards, and previously aired GLORY Rewind shows to more than one million subscribers in Croatia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Montenegro, Macedonia, Kosovo, Serbia and Slovenia through 2017.
In addition, GLORY CEO Jon Franklin revealed to Sherdog.com that future events’s preliminary bouts will begin to be televised on US TV.
The preliminary bouts are said to be broadcast as “GLORY Superfight Series.”
“Glory Superfight Series 19 will be on television in the U.S. Exactly how I can’t announce yet, but I can say it will be on TV in the U.S.,” he said. “The Glory Superfight Series 18 card [which took place in Oklahoma in November] will air on U.S. television in the next few weeks, and we’re currently talking to potential broadcast partners about having the Glory Superfight Series 19 card aired either live or on a tape-delay basis.
Franklin noted that the Superfight Series in already broadcast in other markets.
The next GLORY event, GLORY 19 in Virginia on February 6, will feature a welterweight tournament and a heavyweight championship bout.
