We are now many years removed since Matt Hamill made his mark on a season of TUF by being the hard-working deaf guy who you couldn’t help but respect.
And, uh, those years haven’t been kind.
But Hamill lives literally about three minutes away from the venue for tonight’s Combate Americas show, so of course he had to be on the card.
Taking on Julian Marquez, Hamill wasted no time taking the center of the cage to patiently pick at the relative unknown with single kicks and punches from outside. This was apparently what Marquez needed in terms of finding his range, because before a minute and a half had elapsed, he’d zeroed in on Hamill and dropped him with a counter.
The follow up punches were enough for referee Dan Miragliotta, and Marquez was the winner via TKO.
Results: Julian Marquez def. Matt Hamill via TKO (Punches) at 1:22, R1
