James Toney calling for Kimbo Slice boxing match

James “Lights Out” Toney is searching for revenge after an embarrasing loss at the hands of 47-year-old, Randy “The Natural” Couture. Toney made an early morning call to FightHype.com’s, Percy Crawford to help straighten the record. “Wake yo ass up, I heard Gary Shaw was talking shit about me.”

Shaw a popular boxing promoter, that was responsible for bringing Kimbo Slice into the boxing community recently. Shaw was quoted in the press saying, he looked like an old man, slurring his words. After hearing this Toney replied saying:  “Tell Shaw I’m down to fight Bobby Green, or to welcom Kimbo Slice to boxing. ”

This may be Toney’s way of killing two birds with one stone. He could get back at the boxing promoter that bad mouthed him by ruining his new cash cow (Slice), and get back at MMA by embarrassing an ex-MMA fighter.

  • I would call this ‘displaced revenge’. Shouldn’t Toney want to actually fight someone that is a true MMA fighter to beat? Kimbo’s losses Mitrione and on Spikes’ Ultimate Fighter have not put him in any contention for a boxing match against one of the world’s best boxers. So, when Toney ko’s Slice, is it really a true victory? If you take away a MMA’s tools and only make him box, did you actually beat him as an MMA fighter? Hell no! Couture, already said he wouldn’t do that fight because it would be stupid. Toney needs to comes to terms that boxing is great and all but it’s not really like being in a “fight”. MMA is real fighting, and boxing is… just boxing.

Toney is really milking this attention. He doesn’t deserve it. He didn’t look like he’d done much training at all for that fight. Not that Couture gave him much of a chance.
