Bellator’s former 115 lb. champion, Megumi Fujii (22-1) was upset last night by Zoila Frausto (10-1) via split-decision at Bellator 34 in Hollywood, Florida. The loss put an end to the longest recorded professional MMA record of all time. Bellator’s Female 115 lb. belt has now shifted hands to American fighter, Zoila Frausto.
Zoila may have looked like she lost by her facial damage, but she was able to out-strike the dominating challenger through out the fight and sway the judges in her favor. The five round war is already being talked as a fight of the year contender for next years MMA Awards. Frausto in an interview with Sherdog.com following the win admitted that the weight cut to 115 lbs. was very difficult as it’s not close to her natural weight. Frausto was also shocked that Fujii fought to her strength in the stand-up rather than taking her down with her superior grappling.
