Bellator Moves Middleweight and Heavyweight Title Fights

If you were excited about seeing Bellator middleweight champ Alexander Shlemenko throw down with veteran slugger Doug Marshall on November 15th, you’re going to have to wait an extra week.

The reason being that the promotion has announced it’s moving the Shlemenko-Marshall scrap to Bellator 109 on November 22nd. In turn, the heavyweight title fight between champion Alexander Volkov and Vitaly Minakov has been booked for Bellator 108 one week earlier. Make sense?

Bellator 108 will be hosted by the Revel in Atlantic City, and will feature “Rampage” Jackon’s promotional debut versus Joey Beltran in the main event. Bellator 109, on the other hand, will go down at the Sands Casino in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, and will also feature the lightweight and welterweight tourney finals.

Although Bellator didn’t offer any specific details regarding the switch, the announcement did note that Shlemenko (48-7) is coming off a “grueling” fight versus Brett Cooper on September 7th. Shlemenko won the thrilling scrap via unanimous decision.

Marshall (18-6) locked up a title fight with Shlemenko earlier this year by scoring victories over Andreas Spang, Sultan Aliev and the aforementioned Cooper.

Volkov (19-3) hasn’t fought since December when he defeated Richard Hale by UD to take the vacant Bellator title. Minakov (12-0) won Bellator’s “Summer Series” tourney by stopping Ron Sparks and Ryan Martinez.

Here are the complete line-ups for Bellator 108 and Bellator 109. As per usual, both main cards will be broadcast on SPIKE. Stay tuned to Caged for all your Bellator news and coverage.
