One of Bellator’s top stars has a date set for his next bout, as the promotion has announced that lightweight champ Michael Chander will battle surging vet Dave Jansen on June 19th.
The fight will headline Bellator 96, which will be hosted by the WinStar World Casino in Thackerville, Oklahoma.
Chandler (11-0) will be fighting for the first time since January, when he tapped out accomplished judo competitor Rick Hawn at Bellator 85. The experienced wrestler has won eight straight fights since signing with Bellator, and if you still haven’t seen Chandler’s 2011 bout with Eddie Alvarez, your life is incomplete.
Jansen (19-2), meanwhile, has won six consecutive fights heading into the card, which includes a unanimous decision win over Marcin Held in March to win a lightweight tourney.
The June 19th card will also feature the semifinals of Bellator’s summer series, light-heavyweight competition, as “King Mo” Lawal will take on Seth Petruzelli and Renato Sobral will face Jacob Noe. At welterweight, “War Machine” will fight Blas Avena.
Pretty decent card.
