Bellator 97 Card Finalized

Bellator 97

With all the understandable attention surrounding UFC 162 (you may have heard something about Anderson Silva losing to Chris Weidman) the fact that Bellator has a pretty sweet card scheduled right around the corner, may have gotten overlooked just a bit. Today the promotion released the final line-up for the July 31st event, which will feature two title fights and the finals for its current light-heavyweight and heavyweight tournaments.

At lightweight, champion Michael Chandler will take on David Rickels, and at 170, champ Ben Askren will battle Andrey Koreshkov. “King Mo” Lawal will look to secure his first tourney win against light-heavyweight Jacob Noe, and in the heavyweight finale, Ryan Martinez will throw down with Vitaly Minakov.

The preliminary card wil also feature the semifinals of the promotion’s latest bantamweight tourney, as Rafael Silva will fight Rodrigo Lima and Anthony Leone will take on Frank Baca.

Bellator has also announced that prospects Will Brooks and Bubba Jenkins will be in action, who will battle Cris Leyva and Mike Barreras respectively.

The card will be hosted by the Santa Ana Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico and will be broadcast on SPIKE.
