Bellator is great at finding prospects, especially among the ranks of high-level collegiate wrestlers. They’re also great at putting them in the deep end of the pool too soon, and letting the wrestlers drown.
We watched poor Aaron Pico drown when Bellator went to Madison Square Garden earlier this year, but thankfully, he dove back into the waters at Bellator 183, and, well…
It doesn’t take long for Pico to snatch up opponent Justin Linn and throw him down, and though the wrestler eschews any notions of grappling contest by stepping back and letting Linn stand in lieu of messing with passing guard, that takedown remains there, no matter how mobile Linn stays and how much leather he throws. For his part, Linn does his best to put some knuckles in Pico’s face, but when he steps forward he’s open to a counter, and Pico absolutely crushes him.
Results: Aaron Pico def. Justin Linn via KO (Punch) at 3:45, R1
