Bellator 180/NYC Results: Michael Chandler Suffers Fluke Injury, Loses to Brent Primus

Michael Chandler is Bellator’s lightweight champ, and he sure as hell deserves that crown after all the epic wars and ups and downs he’s had. Brent Primus is 5-0 in Bellator, but he’s fought nobodies – and certainly nobody as tough as Chandler.

Chandler opens by taking the center of the cage, and Primus responds by firing off leg-kicks that actually land pretty hard. The champ steps back to avoid one of those kicks and plants his foot wrong, and almost immediately Chandler’s ankle can no longer support his weight. He falls, gets back up, and tries to keep fighting, but the ref doesn’t like what he sees and has the doctors check it out. And… it’s all over.

Results: Brent Primus def. Michael Chandler via TKO (Doc Stoppage Due to Ankle Injury) at 2:22, R1
