The Bellator 136 weigh ins were completed tonight in Irvine, California, with the eight fighters scheduled the event’s main card ready to roll — including the main event, a lightweight title bout between Will Brooks vs. Dave Jansen.
However, there were two fighters over their allotted weight among the event’s preliminary bouts.
First, Marcos Bonilla weighed in at 147 for his featherweight bout against AJ McKee, in a bout not scheduled to be broadcast. Bonilla will have two hours to cut one pound. Then, Jay Bogan weighed in at 147.4 for his featherweight bout against Justin Governale, in a bout scheduled to be broadcast online.
The night’s headliners, Brooks and Jansen, exchanged a few words in brief interviews after each had weighed in successfully.
Jansen described how he would enter the cage “as a true warrior” — describing “titles and accolades don’t mean anything to me.”
Brooks seemed to take offense.
“When I put my foot on your neck, you’re gonna know,” the Bellator lightweight titleholder yelled after a staredown. “I’m gonna whip your a–!”
