After being pulled from a scheduled September 7th bout with Nick Kirk at Bellator 98, Joe Warren has cleared the final hurdle for his match-up tomorrow night in Portland, Oregon.
The former featherweight champ tipped the scales at 135.7 in preparation for Bellator 101, while the bantamweight Kirk also came in at 135.7 pounds. Warren, who coached during the first season of Bellator’s “Fight Master”, was prevented from fighting Kirk earlier in the month due to a undisclosed medical reason. While there was speculation that Warren had been knocked out during training, the decorated wrestler relayed to MMA Fighting that it was because of an incorrectly diagnosed stroke. So, since Warren’s just fine, he’ll face Kirk tomorrow.
All of the competitors for the opening round of the lightweight tourney also made weight. The quaterfinals will feature UFC vets like Marcus Davis, Rich Clementi and John Alessio, as well as talented lightweights like Saad Awad, Tiger Sarnavskiy and Will Brooks. So in other words, tomorrow’s card should be a good one.
Bellator 101 will be hosted by the Moda Center in Portland and the main card will be broadcast on SPIKE.
